About

I have painted in Avon, Indiana for most of my adult life. Dreamcatcher is the series I keep coming back to, and it began with the habit of writing down what I could still remember before it went.

Originals and prints are available. I take a small number of commissions each year. Nothing here is in a hurry.
How the work is made
Layered paint, paper, and whatever the year has left lying around. The images sit somewhere between a landscape and the memory of one.
Mixed media on panel
Acrylic and oil over paper, thread, found photographs, pressed grass from the fields along County Road 100. I build a surface first and then look for what is already sitting in it. Some panels take two weeks. One has taken three years and is still not finished.
The work
Series
Dreamcatcher, the ongoing series about sleep and what the mind holds on to. Indiana Ground, painted outdoors in Hendricks County across four seasons. And a few commissions each year, built from somebody else’s photographs and notes.

Two or three a year, built from photographs and a conversation about what the piece is meant to hold. About three months from agreement to shipping, with progress pictures at two points along the way.

Mixed media on birch panel, mostly between twelve and forty inches. Unframed unless you ask, because most people have a preference and I would rather not guess at it.

Archival pigment prints of a handful of pieces, in editions of twenty-five, signed and numbered. Not everything is available this way and some of it never will be.

The studio is a converted garage rather than a gallery, but if you are in Hendricks County and want to see something in person, write and we will find a time.
